Introduction
Pacific Surf Lifesaving Club life membership is an honor bestowed upon members who have rendered long, distinguished, and exceptional voluntary service with the Club. It recognizes outstanding contributions at club level, as well as branch, state, or national levels. This often involving leadership, patrolling, and administration.
Key aspects of life membership at Pacific SLSC include:
- Distinguished Service: It is not simply based on tenure, but on, “outstanding” or “extraordinary” service that has significantly benefited the Club.
- Requirements: Criteria includes a minimum number of distinguished years of service (the number depending upon whether the member was a Bronze Medallion holder or not) with potential roles including patrol captains, instructors, and committee members.
- Process: Nominations are vetted by the Pacific SLSC Life Membership Committee at the end of April and must be approved at an Annual General Meeting (AGM).
- Benefits: Recipients are often exempted from regular patrol obligations, attend certain committees and are often consulted on matters relating to the Clubs’ on-going evolution.
This award signifies a profound commitment to saving lives and fostering the growth of the Club.
